In Memory

Francis Bonastia (Ezzo)

Frances Mary Antonia Bonastia Ezzo
Frances Mary Antonia Bonastia Ezzo was born to Peter and Mary Bonastia on November 16, 1943 in Montclair, NJ. She passed away on February 23, 2021 in Warwick, NY from lung cancer.
She is survived by her husband Lou Ezzo; son Mark Costantin, daughter-in-law Mika Costantin and grandchildren Nanami, Rocco, Fina; daughter Amy Costantin Zampella, son-in-law Drew Zampella; sister-in-law Bobbie Bonastia, nephews Peter M. Bonastia and Chris Bonastia; stepdaughter Teri Ezzo Young and husband Steven Young, and grandchildren Anthony, Gianna, Dominick, Luciano, Vivianna, and Lorenzo; stepson Tony Ezzo and grandchildren Jake, Zachary and Cassidy; and stepdaughter Louise Ezzo. Fran was predeceased by her parents and brother Peter J. Bonastia.
Fran grew up in Montclair, NJ. She was aptly named class clown at Montclair High School. She acquired her undergraduate degree in liberal arts as well as additional Masters training in Fine Arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ. Fran was always creating: painting, drawing, sewing, crafting, cooking and baking. She especially loved creating homemade Christmas presents for the entire family. Fran designed her first family home in Pompton Plains, NJ, a gorgeous modern ranch with a double-sided stone fireplace and huge windows overlooking the town.
Fran was a lover of food and a magnificent chef who found her ultimate joy in feeding her family and friends. She created hundreds of Christmas cookies to gift every year. She owned a catering company, The Kitchen Door, and happily fed the Pompton Plains community from her lunch spot of the same name. Fran also owned Main Street Pub in Haskell, NJ for many years and met her husband Lou there. She was one of the smartest and wittiest people you would ever meet. She was a long suffering NY Jets football fan. Fran will always be remembered for showing love through creativity and making people laugh.
Visitation is Monday, March 1 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY with a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Interment will be private.

I surely remember Fran as our "class clown!" She did so well in life with all her many accomplishments in so many fields.  Almost three years ago I met her son Mark and daughter-in-law Mika through a mutual friend and it surprised us finding out that Fran and I were classmates at MHS. She will be missed by her large family. RIP, Fran.

So sorry to learn this about Fran. I first met her at Mt. Hebron school, in my 7th grade homeroom with Miss Marylou Rode.
It was our first year of Junior High School, fed by several elementary schools, so we were all meeting new people that year.
Fran taught me to wear my cardigan sweater buttoned down the back instead of down the front -  because it gave our chests a sexier profile.
I have admired her great positive spirit and her quest to create a life sustaining environment for those whom she cared about.
She will be greatly missed.

I remember Frannie-always with a big smile and that great curly hair.  She was very funny and loved being around her. Love to her family.

So sorry to hear of Fran's passing. She was a sweet kid who I met early in life. Her Dad and mine both worked at Montclair National Bank & Trust on the corner of Bellevue Avenue for decades and through them I knew Fran since I was about six or seven. Seems like every week or two we lose another classmate, so sad. Hopefully cancer will be cured soon. Swet dreams Fran.

So sad to hear of Fran's passing. I have seen her frequently on Facebook with all her grandchildren and family doing wonderful activities even in the recent holidays. It appears she has had quite an amazing life. May she always rest in peace in the thought and prayers of all she has touched.

Frannie was one of my best friends in high school. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family. I especially remember when she learned to drive she was so short she had to sit on a pillow in order to see over the dash board. RIP my friend.

It saddens me to hear of Franny's passing. We kept in touch through Facebook and although we didn't always see eye to eye on some things (all political), Franny and I had much more in common than we both realized. It looks like she had a wonderful, full life. I will miss her. My condolences to her beautiful familly and may she rest in peace.
