DiPaulo Scholarship

 
 

September 2008 marked the five-year anniversary of the Veith-DiPaolo Memorial Scholarship, a fund established by Nicholas DiPaolo in memory of his late wife, Dorothy Edith Veith-DiPaolo, MPH ‘80. This scholarship supports a nurse or nursing student pursuing a master's degree in public health. Past scholarship recipients have joined such organizations as UNICEF and the International Confederation of Midwives after graduation, and have served at-risk populations in a variety of situations as certified nurses.

Biography

Mrs. Veith-DiPaolo was born in 1942 in Montclair, New Jersey. She graduated magna cum laude from the City College of New York and earned her MPH from the Mailman School of Public Health in 1980. A graduate of the Elizabeth General Hospital School of Nursing, Mrs. Veith-DiPaolo worked as a nurse/intern and staff nurse before joining Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. After leaving Columbia, Mrs. Veith-DiPaolo served as an instructor in continuing education and staff nurse in the Labor/Delivery Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology at StJoseph Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. She was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing in 1991.
